We are now looking for a commercially minded solutions engineer (or ambitious mid-level talent ready for a senior step) specializing in Financial Services Industry (FSI) to shape our FSI market strategy, engage customers, and position Exasol as the analytics partner of choice across the DACH region.

About the role

This is not a traditional product management role. Instead, you will act as a bridge between Exasol’s advanced data solutions and banking and financial services with a strong focus on DACH. You will partner with Sales, Product Management, Engineering and Customer Success to build, present and deliver industry-specific solutions that enable financial institutions to meet evolving regulatory requirements while maximizing business value.

Reporting to the Director of Solutions Engineering, you will combine market expertise, customer engagement, and go-to-market leadership. You will act as Exasol’s voice in the FSI sector partnering with executives, influencing buying decisions, and ensuring our solutions meet the needs of one of our most critical verticals.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Act as Exasol’s go-to expert on financial services data and analytics needs.
• Design and present high-impact, scalable data architectures leveraging Exasol in compliance with regulatory frameworks
• Represent Exasol at industry events, conferences, and analyst briefings.
• Identify and pursue FSI growth opportunities through strategic partnerships and lighthouse accounts, while shaping and executing integrated go-to-market motions and developing solution messaging, positioning, and use cases that resonate with decision makers.
• Partner with senior customer stakeholders (CIOs, CTOs, CDOs) to co-create solutions and build long-term advocacy.
• Equip GTM teams with playbooks, proof points, and competitive insights to improve win rates.
• Drive cross-functional alignment between pre-sales, product, marketing, and sales.

What you’ll bring

We are looking for someone who:

• Is a native German speaker and fluent in English.
• Brings over 5 years in FSI solution strategy, pre-sales, business development, or product/solution marketing.
• Has proven experience with data & analytics platforms (data warehousing, lakehouse, AI/ML), specific use cases in FSI (risk modeling, fraud detection, etc.) and can frame value for customers.
• Brings an established network in the DACH financial services sector (banks, insurers, capital markets) or can quickly build trusted relationships.
• Demonstrates strong commercial acumen with a proven ability to influence buying decisions.
• Understands DACH compliance and regulatory frameworks (BaFin, FINMA, GDPR).
• Communicates with impact, especially with senior executives.
• Has an entrepreneurial mindset with a balance of vision and hands-on execution.

Bonus skills:

• Experience with analytics vendors (Exasol, Snowflake, Databricks, etc.) or high-performance platforms.
• Experience aligning cross-functional teams in a high-growth environment.
