💼 About the Role
As a BDR, you are on the front lines of our growth engine. You will be the first human contact many of our future customers will have with Exasol. This is a unique entry-level role with direct exposure to executive buyers, high-value use cases, and the full go-to-market team, with a clear path into Sales or Customer Success over time.
This is not a job for passive lead generators. We are looking for someone who loves talking to people, embraces rejection, and wants to learn everything about customer challenges, data strategy, and enterprise buying behavior.
✅ What You’ll Bring (Must-Haves)
- German as a first language, with solid written and spoken English skills
- Grit, coachability, and curiosity, you ask great questions and love feedback
- A strong bias for action, you pick up the phone, start that video call or hop in the car to get to that tradeshow
- You love people, and you love rejection because it means you’re one step closer to “yes”
- Excellent verbal communication skills, confidence on the phone and in video meetings
- A passion for learning, about data, tech, customer problems, and sales
- Comfortable with CRM tools like Salesforce (or quick to learn them), and obsessed with keeping data clean and insightful
- An active will to further build the BDR team at Exasol with us, from defining processes together and onboarding future colleagues
- Based in Munich or Frankfurt with the ability to be in the office 3 days per week
💡 Bonus Points (Nice-to-Haves)
- Experience in a customer-facing role (sales, support, events, etc.)
- Exposure to B2B SaaS or data/analytics tools
- Understanding business processes in financial services, healthcare/life sciences, or public sector.
- Familiarity with sales development tools (e.g., Salesloft, Outreach, LinkedIn Sales Navigator)
📆 A Day in the Life of a BDR at Exasol
You arrive at the office in Frankfurt, coffee in hand. You start the day reviewing your inbound leads, there is a data engineer from a major insurance company and a head of analytics from a public sector agency. You research them, qualify them using our ICP guidelines, and set up discovery calls.
Next up, it’s outbound hour: headphones on, you dive into your call list, reaching out to data leaders in retail and banking. You get 5 “No’s” in a row, but you smile, knowing each one sharpens your message. On call 6, a Head of BI at a fintech agrees to a 20-minute meeting. You log the results in Salesforce, tagging Marketing with feedback on the campaign that worked.
Later, you join a quick feedback huddle with the Sales Manager and CMO. You share 3 insights from recent calls, what customers are struggling with, how they perceive our competitors, and where a campaign missed the mark. Your input shapes our next GTM sprint.
Before wrapping up, you shadow a senior AE’s call with a prospect you helped source, your discovery questions laid the perfect foundation. You leave the office knowing that you’re not just booking meetings, you are helping build a category-leading business.
