The Senior Security Engineer will be responsible for leading our Security Operation capabilities. This position will report directly to the Head of Information Security (ISO) and will provide strategic thinking relating to how we effectively operate security controls across the group.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior Engineer in security operations at Exasol, you will take ownership of advancing and strengthening our security framework across the organization. Your key responsibilities include: :
Driving Security Operations Strategy:
- Establish and lead a robust security operations program, enhancing how we monitor, detect, and address vulnerabilities.
- Develop strategies for effectively responding to and mitigating security incidents.
Threat Monitoring and Incident Response:
- Increase visibility into potential threats across all technical environments, including cloud, infrastructure, and endpoints.
- Lead the configuration, implementation, and maintenance of critical security platforms, such as SIEM, EDR, MDM, anti-virus, and cryptographic systems.
Auditing and Compliance:
- Oversee and improve IT audit processes, including firewall reviews and security baseline controls for network devices.
- Support audits related to industry standards, such as ISO27001, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Advanced Threat Intelligence:
- Develop and enhance global threat intelligence capabilities, analyzing trends that may impact the organization.
- Lead periodic vulnerability assessments and penetration tests, driving remediation projects to bolster security posture.
Cross-Functional Communication:
- Present technical security topics effectively to non-technical stakeholders, including executive leadership.
- Serve as a trusted advisor across all levels of the organization, promoting a culture of security awareness.
Required Qualifications:
Technical Expertise:
- Deep understanding of security controls such as PKI, IAM, firewalls, penetration testing methodologies, and network security.
- Hands-on experience with security tools and technologies, including SIEM, EDR, and MDM systems.
Audit and Compliance:
- Proven experience supporting audit sessions like ISO27001 or similar frameworks.
Leadership and Communication:
- Strong ability to communicate complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including C-level executives.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and drive collaboration across departments and various stakeholders
Problem Solving and Analysis:
- Analytical mindset with exceptional problem-solving skills to address security challenges proactively.
