Security Engineer (f/m/d)

The Security Engineer will be responsible for leading our Security Operation capabilities. This position will report directly to the Head of Information Security (ISO) and will provide strategic thinking relating to how we effectively operate security controls across the group.
Key Responsibilities:
You will take on a leadership role for driving the security operations capability for Exasol forward. This will include, but not be limited to:
- How we monitor for and deal with vulnerabilities
- Responding to security incidents when they arise
- Increasing the organizations visibility to threats and attacks across all technical environments such as cloud, infrastructure, end points, etc.
- You will be responsible for the configuration, implementation and the maintenance of all security platforms, as well as related IT security relevant topics (anti-virus, cryptography systems, SIEM, EDR and MDM)
- Support and drive our IT auditing capabilities, for example, making sure effective firewall reviews are carried out, improving security baselines controls for network devices etc.
- You perform analyses of information security needs and contribute to design, integration and installation of hardware and software
- Leading our monitoring capabilities, making sure necessary services are monitored and tracked for security threats
- Improving our Threat Intelligence capabilities, looking at trends globally that might impact us
- You are responsible for periodic vulnerability tests and penetration tests, and lead remediation projects to enhance existing security features
- You will need to present technical topics to non-technical individuals on a regular basis
- You will help to manage more junior staff through projects and other topics, to help them deliver and increase their own capabilities
- Drive our cloud security posture, working closely with our IT and Engineering teams on improving cloud security capabilities
Required Qualifications:
- Strong technical knowledge and foundational knowledge of security controls, such as, but not limited to, PKI, IAM, AV, Firewalls, Network security, Penetration testing methodologies etc.
- Experience of supporting audits relating to Industry standards, such as ISO27001
- Good communicator at all levels from C-Level to engineers to non-technical individuals
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Fluency in English and German is a plus
